This site is being built in an effort to help my colleagues in higher education get
to the sources they need to alter their teaching to better leverage new
technologies in the classroom. To that end, this is a work-in-progress and
I will build the site as I see new ideas, new uses, and new sources. Also,
be sure to check the companion blog
for this site for more timely information and for more opinion-oriented and
analysis types of entries.
Who is edProgress.org?
This is beginning as an individual effort, but I would like to see a lot of
educators participate by contributing information that I can post here.
The site will eventually accumulate information I learn at conferences, browsing
the web, reading important blogs, etc., but it wil grow faster and become more
robust if you will help. If
you want to see my bio and some of the links to
various other sites I have, feel free to browse this site. If you find
something you think I should post or talk about here, please email me.
Why edProgress.org?
Many educators have found the Internet to be a rich resource for teaching
materials, ideas, pedagogies, strategies, and information about teaching in
general. With this site I hope to promote the sharing of ideas,
curriculum, materials, plans, and the application of technology to the science
(and art) of teaching. I have found a lot of good ideas on the Internet
and this is the place I want to use as a way for me to organize and share all of
the things I have found, discovered for myself, or researched.
Many of my colleagues in higher education are so busy with their own
disciplines, areas of research, and service activities that they rarely have
time to really dig into pedagogy. Hopefully, this site will help with new
ideas and approaches to the teaching of any discipline. Visit often.
Maybe something will appear here that you can use to make your teaching a little
more effective.
Construction
This site was just started on November 16, 2005. Although it is
certainly a labor of love, it's done in my spare time, so there will be parts,
especially in the beginning, that come up blank. Please pardon our dust
while we are under construction. Check back often for updates and newly
completed parts. If you would like to help with material, please let me
know.
Contact Information
To contact me, click on the email link found in the footer of each page.
That will use your email program to set up a message to me and fill in all the
needed blanks. I use this method, rather than posting my actual address
here, so that webbots cannot see my address on this page and harvest it for
spamming purposes. If you're interested in how that works, drop me an
email and I'll give you a link so that you can do it too (it really cuts down on
junk email since web pages are the number one source of email address for spam
harvesters)
